Contest Period starts October 21st, 2024 at 8:00 AM PST, and runs through Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, at 11:59 PM PST.

Public Voting Period starts Sunday, November 3, 2024 at 12:00 PM PST, and runs through Thursday, November 7, 2024, 12:00 PM PST. This Public Vote will generate a Top 20 Contestants. Scroll down to see all the approved submissions.

Judging and Selection – a panel of the Cardenas Marketing Team will review the top (20) Contestant photos as generated by the public vote. Selection of the top seven (7) Winners will begin November 7, 2024, at 12:01 PM PST, and ends November 7, 2024, at 5:00 PM PST, with announcement of the winners happening soon after.

Please review the judging criteria for this photo submission contest.

The criteria on which the winners will be selected shall be:

1. Judges will consider the volume of public engagement on an entrant’s submission as seen on Cardenas’ Site (this page). The public will be allowed to “like / heart” photos during a “public voting period”.
2. The entrant’s adherence to theme (whether the painted face is depicted in a traditional “Catrina Style” or “Sugar Skull Decorations”)
3. The entrant’s creativity (this may include, but is not limited to, the use of jewelry, feathers, props and other materials other than face paint)
4. The entrant’s outfit
5. Photographic composition and quality of the photograph
6. Ambiance (this may include an altar or other prop and/or background)
7. Color and lighting of the photograph
8. Clarity of the photograph and entrant’s face painting
9. Please do not upload images that are protected under copyright. The image must be yours.
